Bishop James Morton

Bishop James Harold Morton (1946–2023) was a Georgia-based church leader and gospel musician. He developed his musical skills on the piano and organ with his father’s assistance. During his early career, he founded a vocal group that performed in Michigan.

Morton went on to serve as a music director for the Rev. C.L. Franklin. Later in his ministry, he was associated with the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia.

His recorded work includes the live album With My Whole Heart (1999) and the song Something Good (1999). Other recordings in his catalog include I Love the Lord (Live at Azusa 3), Amazing Grace (live performance), Shine on Me (live performance), Beams of Heaven (1999), and the congregational hymn Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross.
