Besy Choir

The BESY Choir is an interdenominational Christian choir based in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. The choir was established in 1981 by the Bible Society of India, Aizawl Auxiliary, and is managed by the auxiliary’s Youth Committee. The name “BESY” is an acronym formed from the first and last letters of the words “Bible” and “Society.”

The choir is made up entirely of volunteer singers from various Christian denominations. Its music focuses on sacred and worship songs, including traditional hymn renditions. Among the hymns in its catalog are “He Hideth My Soul” and “How Great Thou Art.” The choir has also released albums such as Rhythm of Grace and Krista Ka Nei (Greatest Hits Volume II). Other recordings include “Thil Siam Zawng Zawng Hnenah,” “Lalpa Chu Fak Rawh U,” “I Hmangaih Ropui Chuan,” and “I Hming Ropui.”

Through its volunteer ministry, the BESY Choir has served as a musical voice for the Christian community in Mizoram, presenting sacred music rooted in the region’s church traditions. Its ongoing work reflects a commitment to worship through choral music.
