About BarlowGirl
BarlowGirl was an all-female American Christian rock band from Elgin, Illinois, made up of three sisters: Alyssa Barlow, Lauren Barlow, and Rebecca Barlow. The group began their musical journey performing as a backup band for their father, Vince Barlow, before stepping into the spotlight as a trio. They were active from 1999 until their retirement in 2012 and signed to Fervent Records in 2003.
The band became known for their strong Christian faith and personal ethics, often communicating messages about modesty and chastity through their music. Their self-titled debut album, BarlowGirl, arrived in 2004 and quickly gained attention. That same year, the single “Never Alone” became the longest-running No. 1 song on the Radio & Records Christian Hit Radio chart. BarlowGirl was also recognized as the best-selling new Christian artist of 2004.
They continued with the album Another Journal Entry in 2005, which included the hit “I Need You to Love Me.” That song held the No. 1 spot on the Christian Radio & Retail Weekly Christian CHR chart for 13 consecutive weeks. The sisters released How Can We Be Silent in 2007 and served as youth ambassadors for the National Day of Prayer that same year. By the end of 2008, the band had sold more than one million compact discs. They went on to release a Christmas album, Home for Christmas, in 2008, followed by Love & War in 2009. Their final single, “Hope Will Lead Us On,” came out in 2012 before the group stepped away from music.
