About Ascend The Hill

Ascend the Hill was an American worship music band based in Tampa, Florida, active from 2008 to 2016. The group began under the name Ben Davis, taken from their original lead singer who left in 2009. After the change, the band’s final lineup consisted of Joel Davis on vocals and guitar, Seth Davis on guitar, Hayden Davidson on bass, and Jonathan Thomas on drums.

The band signed with the Christian label Come&Live! and developed a sound blending indie folk, indie rock, and worship. Over their career they released three studio albums: the self-titled Ascend the Hill (2009), the hymn-focused Hymns: Take the World, but Give Me Jesus (2010), and O Ransomed Son (2012). The Hymns album featured fresh arrangements of traditional texts, including songs such as “Be Thou My Vision” and “The Love of God.” Their catalog also included original worship songs like “Sing,” “Power in the Name of Jesus,” and “Heaven Come Down.”

Ascend the Hill announced a final US tour in 2016, marking the end of the band’s run in the independent worship scene.
