Anthony Evans is a gospel and worship artist known for blending gospel, R&B, and pop into his music. He was born Anthony Tyrone Evans Jr. on July 14, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, and is the son of Dr. Tony Evans, the prominent pastor and founder of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. Evans attended Liberty University, where he developed his interest in music and ministry. His professional music career began in 2001 when he worked as a background singer for Kirk Franklin. He released his debut solo album, Even More, in 2004.
Evans gained national exposure in 2012 when he competed on the second season of NBC’s The Voice as a member of Team Christina Aguilera. He continued to build his discography with albums such as Letting Go (2006), The Bridge (2008), Undisguised (2010), and Home (2011). His 2014 release, Real Life/Real Worship, debuted at number 60 on the Billboard 200 chart, reached number 4 on the Top Christian Albums chart, and peaked at number 2 on the Top Gospel Albums chart.
In addition to recording, Evans founded Sherman James Productions, a company focused on vocal, event, and record production. He has also authored several books, including Unexpected Places: Thoughts on God, Faith, and Finding Your Voice. His album Altared (2019) topped the Billboard Gospel Album chart. Evans’ career reflects a continued commitment to gospel music and ministry, marked by his work as a solo artist, producer, and author.
