About Amber Nelon Thompson
Amber Nelon Thompson was a Southern Gospel vocalist known for her work as a soloist and as a member of the family group The Nelons. A third-generation singer in the Southern Gospel industry, she was the daughter of Kelly Nelon Clark and the granddaughter of Gospel Music Hall of Famer Rex Nelon. She began performing full-time with The Nelons at age 13 and was a regular performer on the Gaither Homecoming stage and video series.
Thompson also built a solo career, releasing the EP Without Your Love in 2014 and the album Just Sing in 2015 through Daywind Records. Her solo catalog includes songs such as “He’s Making Me,” “Falling,” “I Am A Promise,” and “Another Time, Another Place.” Beyond music, she appeared as an actress in the faith-based film A Question of Faith (2017).
Her contributions to Southern Gospel were recognized with a Dove Award nomination, as well as honors as AGM’s Female Vocalist of the Year and Singing News’ Best Young Artist. Amber Nelon Thompson passed away in 2024.
