Lyrics
You were the Word at the beginning
The One with God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You, our Christ
What a beautiful name it is
What a beautiful name it is
The name of Jesus Christ, my King
What a beautiful name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful name it is
The Name of Jesus, Jesus
You make the darkness tremble
Jesus, Jesus
You silence fear
Jesus, Jesus
You make the darkness tremble
Jesus, Jesus
What a wonderful name it is
What a wonderful name it is
The name of Jesus Christ, my King
What a wonderful name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful name it is
The name of Jesus
You're name is light that the shadows can't deny
You're name cannot be overcome
You have no rival
You have no equal
Now and forever God, You reign
Yours is the Kingdom
Yours is the Glory
Yours in the name above all names
What a powerful name it is
(Jesus, Jesus)
What a powerful name it is
(Jesus, Jesus)
The name of Jesus Christ, our King
You make the darkness tremble
Jesus, Jesus

Meaning & Inspiration
The medley brings two worship songs together around the identity and authority of Jesus. Its opening lines present Christ as the eternal Word who was with God at creation and whose glory is now revealed. From there, the song dwells on the beauty, wonder, and power of His name. The repeated confession that nothing compares with Jesus gives the piece a clear focus on adoration rather than on the singer’s circumstances.
The Tremble refrain develops that confession through images of darkness retreating and fear being silenced. Later lines declare that Christ has no rival or equal, that His reign endures, and that the kingdom and glory belong to Him. These themes closely echo the New Testament portrayal of the Word in John 1 and the name above every name in Philippians 2. By moving between intimate praise and declarations of kingship, the medley presents the name of Jesus as a source of worship, courage, and hope.
