Ikawa, Daudi alipokuwa akikaa nyumbani mwake, Daudi akamwambia nabii Nathani, Angalia, mimi ninakaa katika nyumba ya mwerezi, bali sanduku la agano la Bwana linakaa chini ya mapazia.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”

Naye Nathani akamwambia Daudi, Haya, fanya yote yaliyomo moyoni mwako; kwa maana Mungu yu pamoja nawe.
And Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”

Ikawa usiku uo huo, neno la Mungu likamjia Nathani, kusema,
But that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

Nenda, kamwambie mtumishi wangu, Daudi, Bwana asema hivi, Wewe hutanijengea nyumba ya kukaa;
“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build Me a house in which to dwell.

kwa maana sikukaa ndani ya nyumba tangu siku ile nilipowaleta Israeli huku hata leo; lakini hema kwa hema nimehamia, na maskani kwa maskani.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.

Katika mahali mwote nilimokwenda na Israeli wote, je! Nimesema neno lo lote na mtu ye yote wa waamuzi wa Israeli, niliowaagiza kuwalisha watu wangu, nikisema, Mbona hamkunijengea nyumba ya mwerezi?
In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to shepherd My people, ‘Why haven’t you built Me a house of cedar?’

Basi sasa ndivyo utakavyomwambia mtumishi wangu Daudi, Bwana wa majeshi asema hivi, Nalikutwaa katika zizi la kondoo, katika kuwaandama kondoo ili uwe mkuu juu ya watu wangu Israeli;
Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.

nami nimekuwa pamoja nawe kila ulikokwenda, na kuwakatilia mbali adui zako wote mbele yako; nami nitakufanyia jina, kama jina la hao wakuu walioko duniani.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like that of the greatest in the land.

Tena nitawaagizia watu wangu Israeli mahali, nami nitawapanda, wapate kukaa mahali pao wenyewe, wasiondolewe tena; wala wana wa uovu hawatawatesa tena kama hapo kwanza,
And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness oppress them as they did at the beginning

na tangu siku ile nilipowaamuru waamuzi wawe juu ya watu wangu Israeli, nami nitawashinda adui zako wote. Pamoja na hayo nakuambia, ya kwamba Bwana atakujengea nyumba.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you.

Hata itakuwa, siku zako zitakapotimia, uende na babazo, nitainua mzao wako nyuma yako, atakayekuwa wa wana wako; nami nitaufanya imara ufalme wake.
And when your days are fulfilled and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.

Yeye ndiye atakayenijengea nyumba, nami nitakifanya imara kiti cha enzi cha ufalme wake milele.
He will build a house for Me, and I will establish his throne forever.
13
Nitakuwa baba yake, naye atakuwa mwanangu; wala sitamwondolea fadhili zangu, kama nilivyomwondolea yeye aliyekuwa kabla yako;
I will be his Father, and he will be My son. And I will never remove My loving devotion from him as I removed it from your predecessor.

ila nitamstarehesha katika nyumba yangu na katika ufalme wangu milele; na kiti chake cha enzi kitathibitishwa milele.
But I will set him over My house and My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.”
15
Kwa maneno hayo yote, na kwa maono hayo yote, ndivyo Nathani alivyonena na Daudi.
So Nathan relayed to David all the words of this entire revelation.
16
Ndipo akaingia Daudi mfalme, akaketi mbele za Bwana; akasema Mimi ni nani, Ee Bwana Mungu, na nyumba yangu ni nini, hata umenileta hata hapa?
Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

Tena jambo hili lilikuwa dogo machoni pako, Ee Mungu; hata umeleta habari ya nyumba yangu mimi, mtumwa wako, kwa miaka mingi inayokuja, nawe umeniangalia sawasawa na hali ya mtu mwenye cheo, Ee Bwana Mungu.
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, You have spoken about the future of the house of Your servant and have regarded me as a man of great distinction, O LORD God.

Na Daudi akuambie nini tena zaidi kwa habari ya heshima aliyotendewa mtumwa wako? Kwa maana wewe umemjua mtumwa wako.
What more can David say to You for honoring Your servant? For You know Your servant,
19
Ee Bwana, kwa ajili ya mtumwa wako, na kwa moyo wako mwenyewe, umeyatenda hayo makuu yote, ili yajulikane hayo matendo makuu yote.
O LORD. For the sake of Your servant and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and made known all these great promises.

Ee Bwana, hakuna mwingine kama wewe, wala hakuna Mungu mwingine ila wewe, kwa kadiri tulivyosikia kwa masikio yetu.
O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.
21
Tena ni taifa lipi duniani lililo kama watu wako Israeli, ambalo Mungu alikwenda kuwakomboa kwa ajili yake mwenyewe, ili wawe watu wake, na kujifanyia jina kwa njia ya mambo makuu, yenye kuogofya, kwa kufukuza mataifa mbele ya watu wako, uliowakomboa kutoka Misri?
And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom God went out to redeem as a people for Himself? You made a name for Yourself through great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.

Kwa maana watu wako Israeli ndio uliowafanya kuwa watu wako wa milele; nawe, Bwana, umekuwa Mungu wao.
For You have made Your people Israel Your very own forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
23
Basi sasa, Ee Bwana, neno lile ulilolinena katika habari za mtumwa wako, na katika habari za nyumba yake, na lifanywe imara milele, ukafanye kama ulivyosema.
And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established forever. Do as You have promised,
24
Jina lako na liwe imara, likatukuzwe milele, kusema, Bwana wa majeshi ndiye Mungu wa Israeli, naam, Mungu juu ya Israeli; na hiyo nyumba ya Daudi mtumwa wako imefanywa imara mbele zako.
so that Your name will be established and magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.

Kwa kuwa wewe, Ee Mungu wangu, umenifunulia mimi mtumwa wako ya kuwa utanijengea nyumba; kwa hiyo mimi mtumwa wako nimeona vema moyoni mwangu kuomba mbele yako.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.

Na sasa, Ee Bwana, wewe ndiwe Mungu, nawe umemwahidia mtumwa wako jambo hili jema;
And now, O LORD, You are God! And You have promised this goodness to Your servant.
27
nawe sasa umekuwa radhi kuibarikia nyumba ya mtumwa wako, ipate kudumu milele mbele zako; kwa maana wewe, Bwana, umebarikia, nayo imebarikiwa milele.
So now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.”
