Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(24-29) And the priest shall take the lamb.--The ritual for the poor man's sacrifices, however, is the same as that which is prescribed for the rich man. The solemnity and imposing nature of the service is not diminished, as both rich and poor are alike in the presence of the Lord. Hence the directions in Leviticus 14:24-29 in connection with the humbler sacrifices are simply a repetition of those ordained in Leviticus 14:12-18, to be observed in the case of the more costly offerings.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewThe priestהַכֹּהֵ֛ן (hak·kō·hên)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3548: Priestshall takeוְלָקַ֧ח (wə·lā·qaḥ)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 3947: To takethe lambכֶּ֥בֶשׂ (ke·ḇeś)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3532: A lambfor the guilt offering,הָאָשָׁ֖ם (hā·’ā·šām)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 817: Guilt, a fault, a sin-offeringalong withוְאֶת־ (wə·’eṯ-)Conjunctive waw | Direct object markerStrong's 853: Untranslatable mark of the accusative casethe logלֹ֣ג (lōḡ)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3849: A log, measure for, liquidsof olive oil,הַשָּׁ֑מֶן (haš·šā·men)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 8081: Grease, liquid, richnessand waveוְהֵנִ֨יף (wə·hê·nîp̄)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Hifil - Conjunctive perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 5130: To move to and fro, wave, sprinklethemאֹתָ֧ם (’ō·ṯām)Direct object marker | third person masculine pluralStrong's 853: Untranslatable mark of the accusative caseas a wave offeringתְּנוּפָ֖ה (tə·nū·p̄āh)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 8573: A brandishing, tumult, the official undulation of sacrificial offeringsbeforeלִפְנֵ֥י (lip̄·nê)Preposition-l | Noun - common plural constructStrong's 6440: The facethe LORD.יְהוָֽה׃ (Yah·weh)Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3068: LORD -- the proper name of the God of IsraelJump to PreviousGuilt Guilt-Offering He-Lamb ing Lamb Offer Offering Oil Together Trespass Trespass-Offering Wave Waved Wave-Offering Waving Wrongdoing
