Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(29) Because Judas had the bag.--Comp. Notes on John 12:6.Buy those things that we have need of against the feast.--Here, again, it will be better to postpone the consideration of details in the order of the events of this week, and to deal with the question as a whole. (Comp. Excursus F: The Day of the Crucifixion of our Lord.)That he should give something to the poor.--Such gifts seem to have been made at all festivals.
