Pulpit Commentary
Pulpit CommentaryVerse 20. - She is delivered to the sword; better, with the margin of the Revised Version, the sword is appointed - possibly, as Ewald suggests, with reference to the practice of burying a warrior with his sword beneath his head (comp. Ver. 27). Draw her, etc. The command would seem to be given, so to speak, to the warders of Sheol. They am to receive the new comers and take them to their appointed place.
