Ellicott's Commentary
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(41) A stately bed is rather the couch or divan used for reclining at a feast. "Mine incense and mine oil" (comp. Ezekiel 16:18) may be taken simply as the products of the land, the good gifts of God which Israel bestowed upon the heathen; but as both of these were especially used in sacrifices, it is better to connect with this the perversion to the worship of the idols of the heathen of what should have been Jehovah's only.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewYou satוְיָשַׁבְתְּ֙ (wə·yā·šaḇt)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - second person feminine singularStrong's 3427: To sit down, to dwell, to remain, to settle, to marryonעַל־ (‘al-)PrepositionStrong's 5921: Above, over, upon, againsta couchמִטָּ֣ה (miṭ·ṭāh)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 4296: A bed, for, sleeping, eating, a sofa, litter, bierof luxuryכְבוּדָּ֔ה (ḵə·ḇū·dāh)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 3520: Weightiness, magnificence, wealthwith a tableוְשֻׁלְחָ֥ן (wə·šul·ḥān)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 7979: A table, a mealspreadעָר֖וּךְ (‘ā·rūḵ)Verb - Qal - QalPassParticiple - masculine singularStrong's 6186: To set in a, row, arrange, put in orderbefore it,לְפָנֶ֑יהָ (lə·p̄ā·ne·hā)Preposition-l | Noun - masculine plural construct | third person feminine singularStrong's 6440: The faceonעָלֶֽיהָ׃ (‘ā·le·hā)Preposition | third person feminine singularStrong's 5921: Above, over, upon, againstwhich you had setשַׂ֥מְתְּ (śamt)Verb - Qal - Perfect - second person feminine singularStrong's 7760: Put -- to put, place, setMy incenseוּקְטָרְתִּ֥י (ū·qə·ṭā·rə·tî)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine singular construct | first person common singularStrong's 7004: Smoke, odor of (burning) sacrifice, incenseand My oil.וְשַׁמְנִ֖י (wə·šam·nî)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singular construct | first person common singularStrong's 8081: Grease, liquid, richnessJump to PreviousArranged Arrayed Bed Couch Elegant Great Hadst Honour Incense Oil Placed Prepared Ready Sat Satest Sattest Seat Sit Splendid Spread Stately Table Whereupon
