Pulpit CommentaryVerse 6. - Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber, and hewn stone to repair the house (comp. 2 Chronicles 34:11). The money had to be expended, partly in labor, partly in materials. The materials consisted of both wood and stone, since it was of these that Solomon's temple had been built (see 1 Kings 5:18; 1 Kings 6:7, 9, 10, 15, 36).
