Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(25) And his brethren by Eliezer.--And his (Shebuel's) brethren (kinsmen) belonging to (the house of) Eliezer (Moses' second son) were Rehabiah his (Eliezer's) son, and Jeshaiah his (Rehabiah's) son, &c. (Comp. 1Chronicles 23:17.) The object of the verse is to show the extraction of Shelomith or Shelomoth, whose function is defined in 1Chronicles 26:26. Shelomith the Amramite is not to be confused with the Gershomite Shelomith (1Chronicles 23:9), nor with the Izharite (1Chronicles 23:18; 1Chronicles 24:22).Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewHis relativesוְאֶחָ֖יו (wə·’e·ḥāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 251: A brother, )through Eliezer [included]לֶֽאֱלִיעֶ֑זֶר (le·’ĕ·lî·‘e·zer)Preposition-l | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 461: Eliezer -- 'God is help', the name of several Israelites, also of a DamasceneRehabiahרְחַבְיָ֨הוּ (rə·ḥaḇ·yā·hū)Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 7345: Rehabiah -- 'Yah has enlarged', grandson of Moseshis son,בְנ֜וֹ (ḇə·nōw)Noun - masculine singular construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1121: A sonJeshaiahוִֽישַׁעְיָ֤הוּ (wî·ša‘·yā·hū)Conjunctive waw | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3470: Isaiah -- 'salvation of Yah', four Israeliteshis son,בְנוֹ֙ (ḇə·nōw)Noun - masculine singular construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1121: A sonJoramוְיֹרָ֣ם (wə·yō·rām)Conjunctive waw | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3141: Joramhis son,בְּנ֔וֹ (bə·nōw)Noun - masculine singular construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1121: A sonZichriוְזִכְרִ֥י (wə·ziḵ·rî)Conjunctive waw | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 2147: Zichri -- the name of several Israeliteshis son,בְנ֖וֹ (ḇə·nōw)Noun - masculine singular construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1121: A sonand Shelomithוּשְׁלֹמִ֥ית (ū·šə·lō·mîṯ)Conjunctive waw | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 8013: Shelomith -- Shelomoth his son.בְּנֽוֹ׃ (bə·nōw)Noun - masculine singular construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1121: A sonJump to PreviousEliezer Elie'zer Isaiah Jeshaiah Jeshai'ah Joram Rehabiah Rehabi'ah Relatives Shelomith Shelomoth Shelo'moth Zichri Zicri
