Ellicott's Commentary
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(10) The third to Zaccur.--Literally, The third, Zaccur and his sons and his brethren--twelve. The same mode of expression is used down to 1Chronicles 25:18, except in 1Chronicles 25:11, which reads, "The fourth for the Izrite, his sons and his brethren--twelve." The Izrite (not "Izri") is a Gentilic name, and seems to denote a family rather than a person.Parallel Commentaries ...Hebrewthe thirdהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֣י (haš·šə·li·šî)Article | Number - ordinal masculine singularStrong's 7992: Third, feminine a, third, a third, a third-story cell)to Zaccur,זַכּ֔וּר (zak·kūr)Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 2139: Zaccur -- the name of several Israeliteshis sons,בָּנָ֥יו (bā·nāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1121: A sonand his brothers—וְאֶחָ֖יו (wə·’e·ḥāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 251: A brother, )12 [in all];שְׁנֵ֥ים (šə·nêm)Number - mdStrong's 8147: Two (a cardinal number)Jump to PreviousRelatives Third Twelve Zaccur
