Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(8) Whithersoever thou hast walked.--Same phrase as in 1Chronicles 17:6, "wheresoever," i.e., throughout thy whole career. And have cut off all thine enemies.--This appears to refer not merely to the death of Saul and the overthrow of his house, but also to the successful conclusion of some of the wars recorded in the following chapters. (Comp. also 1Chronicles 14:8-17.)And have made thee.--Rather, and I will make thee. The great men.--The sovereigns of Egypt and Babylon, of Tyre, and the Hittite states.
