Pulpit CommentaryVerse 28. - This verse is omitted in the oldest manuscripts. It is supposed to have been taken from St. Luke (Luke 22:37).

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(28) And the scripture was fulfilled.--The verse, if genuine, would be noticeable as one of the few instances in which St. Mark dwells on the fulfilment of prophecy; but it is omitted by nearly all the better MSS., and probably originated in a marginal note, calling attention to the fulfilment of the prophecy which we find quoted by our Lord as about to be fulfilled in Luke 22:37.
