Pulpit CommentaryVerse 5. - Baal. This seems to be used loosely for Moloch (comp. on Jeremiah 2:8).

Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(5) The high places of Baal.--Baal, as in Jeremiah 2:23, is identified with Molech, and the terms in which the guilt of the people and its punishment are described are all but identical with those of Jeremiah 7:31-32. The fact that such sacrifices were offered is indicated in Psalm 106:37-38.
