Pulpit CommentaryVerse 32 repeats and emphasizes the thought of ver. 22, that the true ground of God's gracious dealing with Israel should be found, not in their merit, but in his grace. So far as their ways were concerned, there was cause only for judgment on his part and self-humiliation on theirs.
