2nd Samuel Chapter 19 verse 7 Holy Bible
Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants; for I swear by Jehovah, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry a man with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that hath befallen thee from thy youth until now.

So get up now, and go out and say some kind words to your servants; for, by the Lord, I give you my oath, that if you do not go out, not one of them will keep with you tonight; and that will be worse for you than all the evil which has overtaken you from your earliest years.

Ellicott's Commentary
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(7) I swear by the Lord.--The statement which Joab emphasises with this solemn oath is not that ne will lead the people into revolt--he does not seem to have conceived, far less to have expressed any such design--but it is simply an assurance of the extreme danger of the course David was pursuing, put in such a strong and startling way as to rouse him from the selfishness of his sorrow.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewNow thereforeוְעַתָּה֙ (wə·‘at·tāh)Conjunctive waw | AdverbStrong's 6258: At this timeget up!ק֣וּם (qūm)Verb - Qal - Imperative - masculine singularStrong's 6965: To arise, stand up, standGo outצֵ֔א (ṣê)Verb - Qal - Imperative - masculine singularStrong's 3318: To go, bring, out, direct and proximand speakוְדַבֵּ֖ר (wə·ḏab·bêr)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Piel - Imperative - masculine singularStrong's 1696: To arrange, to speak, to subduecomfort toלֵ֣ב (lêḇ)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3820: The heart, the feelings, the will, the intellect, centreyour servants,עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ (‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā)Noun - masculine plural construct | second person masculine singularStrong's 5650: Slave, servantforכִּי֩ (kî)ConjunctionStrong's 3588: A relative conjunctionI swearנִשְׁבַּ֜עְתִּי (niš·ba‘·tî)Verb - Nifal - Perfect - first person common singularStrong's 7650: To seven oneself, swearby the LORDבַיהוָ֨ה (Yah·weh)Preposition-b | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3068: LORD -- the proper name of the God of Israelthat ifכִּי־ (kî-)ConjunctionStrong's 3588: A relative conjunctionyou do notאֵינְךָ֣ (’ê·nə·ḵā)Adverb | second person masculine singularStrong's 369: A non-entity, a negative particlego out,יוֹצֵ֗א (yō·w·ṣê)Verb - Qal - Participle - masculine singularStrong's 3318: To go, bring, out, direct and proximnotאִם־ (’im-)ConjunctionStrong's 518: Lo!, whether?, if, although, Oh that!, when, nota manאִ֤ישׁ (’îš)Noun - masculine singularStrong's 376: A man as an individual, a male personwill remainיָלִ֨ין (yā·lîn)Verb - Qal - Imperfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 3885: To stop, to stay permanently, to be obstinatewith youאִתְּךָ֙ (’it·tə·ḵā)Preposition | second person masculine singularStrong's 854: Nearness, near, with, by, at, amongtonight.הַלַּ֔יְלָה (hal·lay·lāh)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3915: A twist, night, adversityThisזֹ֗את (zōṯ)Pronoun - feminine singularStrong's 2063: Hereby in it, likewise, the one other, same, she, so much, such deed, that, will be worseוְרָעָ֧ה (wə·rā·‘āh)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine singularStrong's 7451: Bad, evilfor youלְךָ֣ (lə·ḵā)Preposition | second person masculine singularStrong's Hebrew than allמִכָּל־ (mik·kāl)Preposition-m | Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3605: The whole, all, any, everythe adversityהָרָעָה֙ (hā·rā·‘āh)Article | Adjective - feminine singularStrong's 7451: Bad, evilthatאֲשֶׁר־ (’ă·šer-)Pronoun - relativeStrong's 834: Who, which, what, that, when, where, how, because, in order thathas befallenבָּ֣אָה (bā·’āh)Verb - Qal - Perfect - third person feminine singularStrong's 935: To come in, come, go in, goyouעָלֶ֔יךָ (‘ā·le·ḵā)Preposition | second person masculine singularStrong's 5921: Above, over, upon, againstfrom your youthמִנְּעֻרֶ֖יךָ (min·nə·‘u·re·ḵā)Preposition-m | Noun - masculine plural construct | second person masculine singularStrong's 5271: Youth, the state, the personsuntilעַד־ (‘aḏ-)PrepositionStrong's 5704: As far as, even to, up to, until, whilenow!?עָֽתָּה׃ (‘āt·tāh)AdverbStrong's 6258: At this timeJump to PreviousArise Befallen Befell Comfortably Evil Forth Heart Kindly Night Servants Speak Surely Swear Tarry Worse Youth
