Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(7) Howbeit there was.--Only let there be. The words of 2Kings 22:6-7 are part of the royal mandate. That was delivered . . . they dealt.--That is given . . . they deal. In 2Kings 12:14; 2Kings 12:16 the same construction is used in a different sense. (See the Notes there.)
