Pulpit Commentary

Pulpit CommentaryVerse 4. - But the ark. Again, as in 1 Chronicles 16:39, the writer emphasizes the fact of the temporary divorce that had obtained between the ark and the tabernacle (so 1 Samuel 6:20; 2 Samuel 6:2-19; 1 Kings 3:2, 4, 15; 1 Chronicles 13:3-14; 1 Chronicles 15:1-3, 12-15, 23-29). David's pitching of the tent for it is recorded emphatically 1 Chronicles 15:1; 1 Chronicles 16:1; 2 Samuel 6:17.
